Palm Desert High School's boys' basketball team knew it was in for a challenge Friday night. The Aztecs faced one of the premier teams in southern California in Rancho Christian, which is ranked No. 1 in Division 2A. Palm Desert's season came to an end with a lopsided 76-40 loss in the second round of the CIF-SS playoffs. Rancho Christian's team features three future Division 1 basketball players headlined by seniors Rodney Brown Jr., Kevin Patton and Martin Gumwel. Brown is a 6-foot-6 sharpshooting guard committed to the University of California.
